Welcome:

John was the first son of
 Frank Houk and Cora Pace.
 Born in central Missouri
 it's clear John was named
 after his grandfather
 John Thomas Pace.
John grew up as a farmers
son. By the time he was
 16 his family moved to
 Windsor in Henry Co.
 As a young man he
and 3 of his brothers set
 out for Yankton County
 South Dakota. The 1920
 census shows them the
 Jamesville township
 working a general farm.
 While there he met
 Dora Marguerite Cochran.
 She was the daughter of
 Charles a. Cochran and
 Jessie Pickett.

 John was 18 years her
 senior when they married.
Dora was only 16 when she
 had and lost her daughter
 Norma.

Abt. 1926

Dora was only 15 when she first married. This coupled with the loss of their first child must have been a very trying time
for the teen wife at the turn of the century.

I have not collected any information on the Dora's second husband.
