Welcome:

 After years of hitting road
 block after road block from
 this point back, I decided
the best thing for me to do
was to map every Houk I
 could find starting in
Missouri. I think we are all
 in agreement that the main
bulk of the Houk family starts
with George Houk.

Below I have the 1830 and
 the 1840 census records.
 they show george in Cooper
 County in 1830 then in
 willow Fork Township
 (Moniteau Co) in 1840.
In 1850 George is back in
Cooper Co. Could it be he
 never really left. did a
 census taker catch him at
the home of a son? It does
 not matter other then his
 children started out here.
 !n 1850 in Moniteau Co
his son Andrew was 26 was
 living with wife Mary and
1 year old son John. His
Older son Squire age 29 was
also living with 1st wife Susan
son William 7 and James 6m.

As a note of interest Squire
was in the census just above
 Mariah Elliott and her family,
 She would become the first
 wife of his brother William.

As a final thought,
I read on the Moniteau County website that there are two unmarked graves in the Houk Cemetery I would like to think that this two people were
George and Catherine.

If you reached this color scheme and this is one of your ancesters, we share a direct family member.
